Purpose: To analyze the effects of social connectedness outside of school and stress, on the probability that undergraduate and graduate students participated in research surveys. Methodology: The design was longitudinal (same subjects for five weeks) and non-experimental. Thirty six undergraduate students and 13 graduate students participated in the research. During the length of the project, each student responded a series of self-administered surveys related to their well-being levels (total number of observations: 245). Repeated-events survival analysis through Cox regression was used to test the hypotheses. Results: It was found that both independent variables reduced the probability that students participated in the research. Conclusion: By dedicating more time to being social outside of school, students get less involved in their university role, and stress reduces their interest in it.
