Frugal Innovation represents a strategic that seeks to meet social demands through solutions that emphasize sustainability, adequacy and conscious use of resources, making it particularly suitable for developing countries. This paper presents the results of a study aimed at identifying and analyzing theoretical-methodological approaches that have the potential to guide the teaching and dissemination of Frugal Innovation, considering the perspective of participants in the Red Latinoamericana de Innovación Frugal (RELIF). The quantitative and exploratory research data were obtained through an online form applied to the RELIF members. After data collection and processing, the following techniques were applied: descriptive statistics, Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test and Chi-square statistics. The results corroborated theoretical topics mapped in the literature, highlighting the inter and transdisciplinary character of IF. The study revealed the potential of Frugal Innovation as a strategy for formulating and implementing teaching and learning processes that aim to disseminate sustainable development in Higher Education Institutions in Latin America. The paper also contributed to the literature and practice related to the appropriation of frugal value in university pedagogical dynamics, especially for Latin American teachers and researchers.
