The body is a recurring theme in various fields of knowledge, including philosophy, history and education, among others. Conceptions of the body tend to be analyzed in bibliographic production, as they express the way in which authors can reflect on the relationship of human beings with themselves, with others and with nature. Therefore, the problem of this research is to identify the predominant epistemological approaches between 2001 and 2018. The methodology used was a bibliometric, quantitative and qualitative study of journals in the field of Education from 2001 to 2018, considered to be in the A-1 stratum of Qualis CAPES (2013-2016). The general objective of the study was to examine the conceptions of the body in Brazilian journals in the field of education, approaching the paradigms of the main scientific theories. The specific objectives were to analyze the authors who published the most topics related to the body in education journals in the years analyzed, to identify the regions of the country that contributed the most to this debate and; to present how conceptions of the body are manifested in the different texts analyzed. The results show that among the journals studied, there is a predominance of phenomenological conceptions, followed by the post-modern movement, positivism and dialectical materialism respectively. In conclusion, it is possible to say that the phenomenological tradition is very strong in the texts researched, demonstrating a certain concern to look at the human being as a totality.
