Abstract

The Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC, Brasil, 2018a), as well as the Goiás State Curriculum Document for Upper Secondary Education (DC-GOEM, Goiás, 2021), are normative educational documents that establish the concepts of text and discourse to be adopted in the area of Languages, more specifically in Portuguese Language teaching. Accordingly, this article aims to revisit concepts of text from the perspectives of Discourse Analysis and Text Linguistics and subsequently compare them with those presented in the aforementioned documents and in the updated National Curriculum Guidelines (2024). It then discusses considerations regarding information curation and the use of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (TDICs) in first-language teaching and learning, relating them to the development of General Competency 5 (Digital Culture), as established by the BNCC (Brasil, 2018a) and reinforced by the DC-GOEM (Goiás, 2021). To achieve this aim, documentary research was conducted to broaden existing knowledge of the documents under analysis and offer a new interpretation of previously examined material. A literature review was also carried out to relate these documents to concepts of text, emphasizing the importance of addressing TDICs in the classroom. The analysis revealed the coexistence of different terms for genres without a systematic explanation of their theoretical foundations. It also identified that information curation is explicitly presented as a language practice associated with digital culture.
