Abstract

This article presents a narrative/literature review trying to identify which actions are being developed by Brazilian’s universities when it comes to fight racism in the past ten years. The democratic process of entering the university has increased the number of disfarvors - specially black people. However, the guarantee of affirmative action’s - in isolation - not necessarily maintain and support the students. This research shows the importance of the simbolic actions as a complement to the material politics. Has been analyzed eleven articles to compose and understand the discussion. The results demonstrate that even if there are Students’s Assistencial Programs, the gaps when it comes to fight the symbolic racism stills. The symbolic actions, on the other hand, are fundamental to build a new social environment which can promote integration using symbols that can function as tools of communication and knowledge. Is possible to say that, if antirracism’s politics carry on, is necessary that institutions apply material and symbolic actions, invests in employee’s continuous training and create an environment to listening and welcome the students.
