This study aimed to investigate and discuss the meaning of work for older workers through a bibliometric and integrative literature review. The research covered publications between 2008 and 2025 in the Scopus and Web of Science databases, applying the three bibliometric laws: Bradford, Lotka, and Zipf. Out of 217 initially identified articles, 19 were selected for final analysis after applying inclusion criteria. Results revealed irregular scientific production during the period, with publications concentrated in high-impact journals, limited collaboration among countries, and significant cultural variations in the meaning attributed to work by older professionals. Three central themes emerged: meaning of work and older workers, retirement and post-retirement, and gender issues. The final considerations show that work for older workers transcends monetary aspects, representing a source of identity, well-being, social interaction, and personal fulfillment.
