Telework has become an increasingly widespread work arrangement worldwide, whose expansion has produced psychosocial consequences for workers. This study aimed to investigate the lived experience of telework among workers in a Brazilian public institution, drawing on the concept of neoliberal rationality. This qualitative study was conducted through in-depth interviews with 14 public servants, whose accounts were analyzed using the technique of dramatic collision nuclei. The results reveal distinct solutions to the dilemmas experienced by participants, expressed in conflicts between: being productive and enjoying flexibility; reconciling telework with family roles; and working in isolation versus maintaining sociability. The findings indicate adherence to neoliberal rationality, especially in discourses related to productivity, self-management, and self-surveillance, coexisting with forms of resistance primarily centered on the valuation of family life.
