Regional assessment of coffee cultivars (Coffea arabica L.) in relation to productivity.

ABSTRACT: The coffee is an activity featured in national terms, generating
significant foreign exchange. The production chain has been going through
some adjustments in order to occupy different spaces in national and
international markets. The integration of the region's growers in the Paulista
New High segment of so-called specialty coffees, will certainly result in greater
profitability of the crop, with more job creation. To enable this scenario, the
changes must be implemented actions, among others, focused on assessments
of new varieties, more productive, providing a better quality product. This study
aimed to evaluate different varieties of coffee (Coffea arabica L.) grown at
conditions representative of the region of Alta Paulista. The cultivar most
suitable conditions, the presence of Meloidogyne paranaensis, low soil fertility,
was the IPR 100, with indicated the planting of it in our region. Cultivar Palma II
is not suitable for this environment, due to negative interference showed that
the cultivar with regard to their productivity. The other clones can be cultivated,
but with resave, when the production area, is contaminated by Meloidogyne
paranaensis.
