Part of the organizational studies literature acknowledges the limited methodological innovation in qualitative research within the field, attributing this to a conservative tradition, institutional pressures, resource constraints, and resistance to change. To address this limitation, this study proposes the adoption of design thinking as an innovative qualitative method for organizational research, grounded in stakeholder theory. Design thinking is a multidisciplinary, human-centered approach aimed at solving complex problems through empathy, creativity, and experimentation. This theoretical essay presents the application of the method based on tools such as empathic interviews, personas, maps, journeys, visualization, and co-creation. The proposal enables a better understanding of the roles and needs of stakeholders and supports collaborative data collection by engaging actors throughout the research process. It is expected that this approach will contribute to expanding methodological innovation in organizational studies.
