Abstract

This text, based on an integrative literature review, aims to discuss the causes of the explosion in the diagnosis of ASD cases in society, addressing the conceptual, educational, etiological, and social transformations that led to the formation of this representational framework. Furthermore, it discusses how this widespread approach can result in both the trivialization of the concept of disability by blurring its constitutive boundaries and its redefinition, which is the main focus of this article, playing a key role in combating ableism and improving public services for people with disabilities, effectively contributing to the construction of a more just and accessible, and therefore inclusive, society.
