The aim of this article is to investigate the model of school museum introduced by Yvonne Jean in Brasília in 1964, through her reading of the work Museu e Educação by Florisvaldo dos Santos Trigueiros, with the aim of advising teachers and students at Escola Parque on how they could organize their school museum. The conclusions indicate that the model of school museum introduced by Yvonne Jean, based on her reading of the work by Florisvaldo Trigueiros, was considered modern by the standards of the time: a dedicated space within the school, equipped with equipment and a collection that would facilitate the teaching process of the subjects that comprised the teaching of the educational institution that housed it. Everything in this museum, from the colors of the walls and furniture to the arrangement of the collection – without neglecting to include the process of labeling the materials – should contribute to making it an effective ingredient in the task of educating new generations, via the school institution. The collection of a school museum, however, should be carefully organized, avoiding curious pieces or pieces that have no connection with the teaching theme for which it should be used. Good taste should guide its organization, especially considering that it is a space dedicated to awakening the interest of children, who could even handle the pieces on display, for a more active and participatory learning experience.
