This article analyzes the possibilities of the study of the Nursing Process (NP) contributing to the comprehensive training of students in the Technical Nursing course. To this end, interviews were applied to female nurse teachers of the Nursing Technical course of the Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais, Januária Campus, and the data obtained were organized and categorized according to content analysis and, subsequently, discussed in light of the theoretical framework raised. The results achieved indicate that the study of NP in the Technical Nursing course can contribute to comprehensive training, due to the characteristics, potentialities and principles attributed to this methodology: it approaches the target of care in various dimensions, contemplates the individuality and humanity of the being, brings the nursing work closer to its educational principle, confers scientificity to nursing care, unites thinking with doing, highlights the profession's own knowledge, contributes to professional recognition and to social practice.
