Abstract

Faced with the new configuration of High School, training itineraries emerged, which make teaching flexible. In Santa Catarina, Financial Education gained this format, which was previously presented through ENEF and as a transversal theme of the BNCC. Financial Education aims at personal financial planning in search of financial health and quality of life. But as an elective curricular component, it presents an even greater challenge: to propose a teaching contextualized with the student's reality and life project, in order to create a meaning and reason to be studied. The student must be the protagonist in the process. Thus, this study aimed to verify the perceptions of students who attended the respective CCE in a basic education school in Santa Catarina. The study was submitted to the ethics committee of Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (UNESC) and, after approval, consent documents were collected with the research and a questionnaire. Data were organized, with subsequent descriptive analysis. With the analysis, planning and financial autonomy and conscious consumption were found as objectives and reasons for the student to study Financial Education. In accordance with the learning objectives and thematic units of the elective curricular component defined in its guiding document. In addition, alignment with their personal lives and life projects was also verified. In this context, the teaching of Financial Education associated with the students' goals, can provide a meaning and a more meaningful learning.
