PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESSORS OVER MILITARIES IN PEACE OPERATIONS: A SCOPING REVIEW

Abstract

This paper aims to collect the academic production developed between 1992 and 2023 on the psychological dimension of the United Nations Peace Operations. A Scoping Review is undertaken, a mapping of the literature of this specific topic comprehended on my doctorate thesis. To fulfill this objective the methodology expressed on the Prisma Diagram and Checklist will be used. Its first step - the Diagram - is to collect data. The research was conducted on the following scientific data base: Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ), PubMed e PsycNet. Manual bases were not used. The research was made based on the following filters: papers written from 1992 on, and in Portuguese, English, Spanish and/or French. On the eligibility criteria, articles about peace operations outside de UN system were excluded. The second step is to analyze the data collected based in the lights of the Prisma Checklist. Based on this research, a consolidated bibliography on the psychological dimension of peacekeeping, revolving mainly around the relationship of the militaries with the multiple stressors faced in the field. The thematic is mostly versed by medical authors, being rarer between the Political Science production.
