What are the effects on the guarantee of rights and constitution of citizenship when promoted by community social actors through sociocultural practices tied to the subjective constitution of ancestral ethnic and territorial identity? For such comprehension, the present study aims to analyze the activities developed on Alfredo Marani Street in Lavras/MG by the Sociocultural Association Castelo de São Jorge de Nagô, which, together with the Terreiro de Umbanda Castelo de São Jorge de Nagô, forms a complex of activities, social actors, community, and public space in the promotion of participatory dialogues with governmental authorities and the affirmation of a quilombola and Afro-Brazilian urban identity. Since 2021, members of the Urbanities Observatory (O.Urbs), as part of the extension project Public Policy Observatory (OPP/UFLA), have participated in and followed the association's activities, generating reflections and analyses on the topics addressed in this partnership.
