Abstract

This article presents a study developed in the Pedagogical Science College at the University of Ciego de Avila "Maximo Gómez Baez," in Cuba, on the deficiencies in the pedagogical professional skill to direct the practical-experimental activity that students of the bachelor’s degree in Chemistry Education have. The objective was to diagnose the current state of this professional pedagogical skill development in students of this major. A mixed methodological approach was adopted to develop a field study with a transversal non-experimental research design. The sample consisted of three directors, seven second-year students, 14 professors and seven tutors, representing 100.0 %, 53.84 %, 51.85 %, and 53.84 % of the population, respectively. The main results evidenced theoretical, methodological, and practical inadequacies related to the undergraduate training process of the bachelor’s in chemical education from the integration of the academic, labor, and research components.
