Abstract

This article aims to analyze the implications of the New High School and the Common National Curricular Base in the reform of the curriculum and the offer of technical professional education in the state public school system of Santa Catarina. From the documentary analysis, it seeks to identify how the tracks of deepening in professional education present in the books that make up the Base Curriculum of High School in the Santa Catarina State. The theoretical elaboration is anchored in categories such as inverted duality, neopragmatism and new competencies that contribute to the understanding of elaboration and adaptation of the New High School in the context of Santa Catarina. The public policy developed in the state, in the period between 2017 and 2022, occurred under strong influence of the neoliberal reforms implemented after the coup of 2016.  It is noteworthy that, although there are some points of contradiction in the construction of the Base Curriculum of Santa Catarina, the neopragmatic conception and subordination of vocational education to market interests is presented in a hegemonic way.
