The aim of this article is to analyze the main guidelines for secondary technical vocational education in the state of Santa Catarina resulting from the reform of secondary education. Based on documentary analysis, it identifies how the in-depth paths in the technical and professional training itinerary were established in the notebooks that make up the High School Core Curriculum of the State of Santa Catarina. It shows that the notion of competencies has been taken up again and that inverted duality has been reinforced in the development of educational policy. Although there are some points of contradiction in the construction of the curriculum, the notion of competences and the subordination of vocational training to market interests is hegemonic.
