This article deals with the study of the fantastic chronicle in journalism, understood as the journalistic coverage of inexplicable supernatural events from a narrative composed of text, oral narrative and moving image, in three journalistic reports of the television program Cuarto Milenio.
First, the narrative structure of the so-called fantastic chronicle in journalism is analyzed, considered a chronicle because it deals with real events and because the audiovisual narrative compendium of the analyzed cases is typical of interpretive journalism. Then, it delves into the problem of the real and the fantastic in the journalistic chronicle, where the real is highlighted as a determinant for the chronicle and the fantastic effect. Finally, the theme is reviewed as part of the cultural worldview of the audiences and their daily interaction, a process in which reality is also constructed (Luckmann, 2008).
