The intention of this article is to unveil the postmodern agenda in education from the proposal of education for the 21st century, Education throughout life, presented by the Report commissioned by UNESCO to Jacques Delors in the late 1990s, entitled Education: a treasure to discover. Despite being built more than twenty years ago, this education proposal forged on the basis of changes present in contemporary times in relation to work, technology and, therefore, as new sociabilities, educational proposals impacts until today in several countries. For this we will systematize the counterpoint of postmodernity as a way of rescuing the epistemological and political roots of this postmodern critique, which, by not overcoming the conditions that underpin modern capitalist society, ends up forging a revitalization of the “old” as a solution. Finally, with the help of works such as István Mészáros, confront and present what would in fact be an education for the future.
