This study aimed to evaluate the profile, the emotional difficulties / problems faced by the students of the Universidade Federal do Recôncavo da Bahia (UFRB) in a perspective compared to the Brazilian and Northeast IFES, as well as the participation in student assistance programs and psychological and psychiatric. Developed from a document analysis of reports related to the V National Survey of Socioeconomic and Cultural Profile of Graduates of Federal Institutions of Higher Education - IFES, carried out by Fonaprace/Andifes in 2018. The results revealed that the student public of IFES , especially from UFRB, presents high economic vulnerability and important difficulties, especially emotional, that interfere with health and academic life. It has been shown that student assistance programs are incipient and require greater investment. The study brings information that calls on the government and the academic community to debate these issues and to propose programs and actions to mitigate such difficulties and promote the formation of citizens and professionals with greater success and quality of life.
