This article aims to analyze the guidelines of the Minas Gerais State Department of Education regarding the implementation of the curricular component of the New High School - Life Project - in terms of not defining a teacher profile to teach the subject. Analyzing a set of curricular documents, the guidelines for implementing a Life Project in Minas Gerais and the summary of a Sociology textbook, we carried out a document analysis and comparison of the contents to demonstrate the alignment between the themes oriented to the Life Project and the curricular content of the Sociology/Social Sciences subject at school. In spite of all our criticisms and considerations regarding the implementation of the New High School reform and the Life Project; despite the impossibility of immediate revocation of this regulation, we understand that, once it has become a mandatory curricular component, it is imperative to define a teacher profile with adequate training to carry out the teaching and learning process of high school students. Such a measure can contribute, in our view, to mitigate the possible impacts of content developed in a meritocratic, individualistic and decontextualized perspective.
