The article aims to delimit the field of scientific knowledge related to teaching knowledge that constitutes the professional identity of non-specialist music teachers, seeking to understand its implications for teaching work. Therefore, through qualitative research, we conducted a discussion on the state of knowledge and a theoretical study related to teaching knowledge and the teacher's professional identity (TARDIF, 2002; GAUTHIER, 2013; PIMENTA, 2005), we constituted our empirical material in the journals Scielo, ABEM and BDTD, and we are guided by Bardin for content analysis. The results pointed to the need for planning/development of training activities based on the construction of pedagogical-musical knowledge necessary for the teaching work of the teacher who teaches music at school.
