The COVID-19 pandemic brought changes in hospital routines challenging the humanization actions carried out in hospitals that are essential to guarantee comprehensive care. One of the characteristics of humanized care is the user embracement in which psychoeducation can be used. Psychoeducation is a therapeutic approach that follows an educational model and in the field of hospital psychology proposes to improve patient autonomy. This study aimed to identify and describe the reach and assertiveness of user embracement with the aid of psychoeducation as a humanization strategy in an emergency hospital in Goiânia during the COVID-19 pandemic from March to June 2020. To identify the range of the user embracement, data from medical records and hospital databases were used and they were analyzed using descriptive statistics. 2151 patients were attended, corresponding to 63.8% of the total number of hospitalized in the hospital wards during the period. It is concluded that psychoeducation is an efficient tool, because with relatively low use of resources, it helps communication in the hospital environment and allows patients and relatives to broaden their understanding of procedures, hospitalization and treatment, strengthening autonomy and maintaining bonds during the period of illness.
