The article intends to defend the elaboration of an ECE quality assessment instrument which focuses on interactions and pedagogical practices and promotes equality and differences. It presents ECE Brazilian documents and discuss its quality parameters concerning interaction as an important aspect of quality and its relation to children’s identity building processes and expression; the concept of social justice and its manifestation in ECE practices; results of an exploratory analysis on existing ECE quality assessment instruments that are either published or used by the Brazilian public system; presentation of elements which might be incorporated into a Brazilian quality assessment instrument that relates ECE aspects with issues concerning equality, diversity and interactions.
