Abstract

We analyze the role of motivation as a guide and support in the professional development of future teachers. The case study, of a descriptive and interpretative character, presents the way students feel at the university and representations towards the near future. Through a questionnaire of open narrative questions, the data of the students reveal that their stay “today… at the university” is governed by socialization and personal training, natural curiosity, motivation to move forward. Regarding expectations regarding “tomorrow ... anticipated future”, students' voices focus on life projects, dreams and issues related to professionalization and professional identity
