This article presents an overview of the current state of lexicography for the languages of the Tupí family and of prospects for the coming years, both in individual lexicographic description and in historical-comparative research. It is based on the results of a workshop on dictionaries and lexical databases of Tupí languages, held at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (Belém, Brazil) in March 2023, which brought together nineteen researchers from several institutions. The overview shows that more researchers are now working on more Tupí languages than ever before, with more mature digital tools and standards. The main challenges are identified, from the standardization of basic concepts and database fields to theoretical lexicographic questions such as the choice of citation form, together with the courses of action proposed by the group. AI use: the workshop recordings were transcribed and summarized with AI tools, which also assisted in revising the text; these summaries served as the basis for the sections on individual projects and on challenges; AI supplied no citations or references, and the authors take full responsibility for the text.
