This article presents the results of a study into the constitution of the professional gesture of teaching in early childhood education. The investigation was based on research carried out in the field of education and in the field of labor studies, especially the Clinic of Activity. Various methodological resources were used in the fieldwork, such as observation, field notebooks, simple and cross self-confrontation. The research identified four professional gestures of great importance: leading the routine, affectionate guiding dialog, care in action, lapping. It concludes by pointing out aspects that contribute to the development or degradation of professional gestures, and highlighting the strategic place of the partnership between the university and the school.
