This article investigates the configuration of time adopted by the Rio de Janeiro State Department of Education for the provision of regular high school education, in light of principles of school justice and the strategies of Goal 6 of the National Education Plan, which prioritizes students in socioeconomic vulnerable situations in full-time schools. To this end, descriptive statistics are used to analyze, through educational indicators, the organization of shifts for the provision of high school education, with a focus on full-time schooling, its relationship with school performance, and its alignment with Goal 6 of the Plan. There is a mismatch between the organization of school time, principles of justice, and strategies aimed at extending the time students in socioeconomic vulnerable situations spend at school.
