This essay aims to propose socioemotionality as an emerging, potentially autonomous analytical category focused on understanding hybrid socioemotional mediations in contemporary society, differentiating it from related constructs widely consolidated in the literature, such as socioemotional competencies and skills. Anchored in the epistemology of complexity and an expanded reinterpretation of mediation in the Zone of Proximal Development, the study organizes a structured model of conceptual differentiation, organized into three axes: delimitation, epistemological basis, and functional differentiation. This theoretical-conceptual essay, of a qualitative nature, argues that socioemotionality can constitute an autonomous analytical field, whose centrality lies in the analysis of hybrid mediations—human, institutional, and technological—that reconfigure socioemotional experiences in contemporary society. As a result, a theoretical proposition is presented that can support scientific and analytical autonomy, based on its own dimensions, considering the relevant theoretical foundations, and capable of understanding the new forms of socio-emotional interactions and their reflections on learning, knowledge production, and social coexistence.
