The aim of the article was to investigate the types of misinformation disseminated by the top brass of the federal government during the pandemic, treating fake news as forms of latent strategic action, under the analysis of Habermas' Theory of Communicative Action. Through qualitative research, the results reveal numerous strategies for disseminating misinformation by the Bolsonaro government in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, supported by the strength and reach of the communicative action that a state leader has towards his population, especially in a scenario of scientific denialism.
