In order to have an instrument that measures emotional impact related to COVID-19 in Peru, a validation study for COVID-19 Peri-traumatic distress index (CPDI) was done. The CPDI was translated into Spanish and then adapted in a first round of experts. In a second round of experts (n = 13), the validity of the content and the reliability of the CPDI were evaluated. Of the 24 original items, only one item (S7) presented non-significant values for content validity and then it was removed. The reliability values of the original CPDI (24 items) and the modified CPDI (23 items) remained unchanged. In conclusion, the CPDI in Spanish presents adequate content validity and reliability, being suitable for its application in Peru. Finally, the modification of the CPDI did not alter its characteristics. Therefore, it is suggested to use the modified CPDI version for a better assessment.
