This study examines psychodynamic indicators in women during pregnancy and the puerperium. Fifteen pregnant women (average age 29 ±2.6 years) with a single, spontaneous pregnancy, good socioeconomic status, a stable relationship with the father’s child, were assessed using a Sociodemographic and Clinical Questionnaire and the Rorschach Method (Paris School) in the third trimester and postpartum. Non-parametric analyses compared logical functioning and affective experiences. Results revealed emotional and identity changes, including a high number of responses, increased ‘blank’ use, high anxiety, and frequent anatomy, blood, and sex responses. These indicators suggest self-preservation during pregnancy and distress over the end of symbiotic attachment in the postpartum period. The findings highlight the value of psychological assessment using the Rorschach method during pregnancy and the puerperium.
