This article theoretical-analytical contributes to the research agenda that focuses on gender within organizations through a multiparadigmatic theoretical review. By adopting concepts from Niklas Luhmann's self-referential systems theory along with contributions from Judith Butler's theory of gender performativity, aims to initiate conceptual dialogues to identify possible areas of convergence between the authorss. This may support the beginning of an elaboration in organizational theory that considers organizations as systems and gender as a type of communication that can regulate and produce intelligible and unintelligible genders in organizations.
