The present study has analysed the results of the Brazilian Students Performance National Exam in the History undergraduate course, in six editions carried out in the period of 2004 to 2021, aiming at apprehending and problematizing the changes occurred in the exam and the evaluation conceptions that were present in the evaluation policies for Higher Education. For such, we have chosen the methodological procedures of qualitative approach, namely, literature review, bibliographic review, and documentary research. The sociological and sociohistorical approach of the evaluation and the critical studies were adopted as theoretical-methodological framework, which allowed for the comprehension of the nexus existent between the evaluation paradigms and the theoretical and political conception that founded Brazilian Students Performance National Exam.
