Independent contemporary art spaces have gained increasing relevance within the global cultural ecosystem as platforms for artistic experimentation, the incubation of emerging careers, and the creation of new dynamics of cultural participation. These spaces, generally driven by artists or self-managed collectives, operate in contexts characterized by limited resources, institutional precariousness, and processes of urban transformation. Despite these conditions, they play a fundamental role in the circulation of emerging art and in the diversification of curatorial practices and cultural management.
This article analyzes the management models that support the circulation of emerging art in independent spaces, considering factors such as organizational sustainability, digital communication, interdependence within the artistic ecosystem, and the relationship with urban policies. Based on a critical review of recent literature in cultural management, urban studies, and the sociology of art, a conceptual framework is proposed to better understand the strategic role of these spaces in contemporary cultural production.
