Digital libraries, as a research object, are of utmost importance to the academic and scientific context, as they directly contribute to the development of research and learning skills. This study aims to map and present Brazilian academic and scientific production, as well as the predominant thematic trends, on the topic of evaluating the quality of university digital libraries, covering the period from 2001 to 2023. The analysis employed qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches, conducting a state-of-the-art literature review. An analytical corpus of 23 publications, including scientific articles, master’s dissertations, and doctoral theses, was selected from a universe of 329 documents retrieved from major databases. The research findings revealed a predominance of studies on the evaluation of digital libraries within the field of Information Science, with emphasis on three thematic axes: content coverage, service effectiveness, and user experience. There was also a concentration of publications and advisors in the Southeast region of Brazil. The research identified trends such as the need for standardized criteria, efficient content management, and an emphasis on system interoperability. The "service effectiveness" axis stood out, focusing on technological infrastructure and system integration, which were recurring themes in the studies. The evaluation of the quality of university digital libraries highlighted the three identified axes, emphasizing the relevance of technical efficiency and social and academic impact, consolidating these libraries as essential tools for supporting research, teaching, and outreach.
