The article analyzes dissertations and theses on the university in Brazil that deal with the entry and permanence of black students, seeking to consider whether this has been a discussed topic within academic stricto sensu research. The research, based on the CAPES Catalog of Dissertations and Theses, identified six relevant works. These studies reveal that, despite the exclusion and segregation faced, black students find support and belonging through relations of aquilombamento, through extension groups and collectives. The law on reservation of places in federal universities, approved in 2012, is highlighted as an attempt to reduce historical inequalities. The systematic review of literature shows that the expressive presence of black students in university is recent and still faces significant challenges, but also points to the formation of ethnic-racial identities and the importance of spaces for reception and resistance, being possible the affirmation of racial diversity in this territory.
