Using a qualitative approach and bibliographic research method, this article objectively analyzes the evidence that marked the institutionalization of the social sciences, as well as the first scientific research institutions in colonial Angola – highlighting their objectives and purposes. The results indicate that, during the colonial period, the social sciences played the role of instruments of aid and ideological apparatuses of the Portuguese colonial-fascist administration.
