Qualitative research, of a historical-epistemological nature and dialectical analysis, developed with the objective of producing a social history perspective of acquired syphilis, in the period 2012-2022, in Brazil, in Santa Catarina and NN [eliminado para efeitos da revisão por pares], aiming to survey general and specific categories involved in the increase in the number of cases. The results point to categories that range from the dynamics of the social structure and its contradictory systems to working conditions, consumption, and goods. Field research is recommended on the forms of social reproduction and their distribution in the country. There is a clear need to build a counter hegemony capable of dismantling the exercise of power by the ruling classes, defenders of functionalist-positivist medical training based on the natural history of diseases.
