This study explores the relevance of trombone choirs and the importance of active student participation, stressing their significant educational and formative benefits. By reviewing existing literature, the research identifies key approaches supporting trombone ensemble studies. Results indicate that since the mid-20th century, most contributions have emerged from English-speaking Western institutions. The study highlights both the interpretative and psychosocial benefits of ensemble participation, such as fostering a sense of belonging, group interaction, and emotional well-being. However, trombone ensembles have not secured a central place in Spain's higher music education, as the subject isn't officially included in current curricula. Despite this, some educators independently promote the practice. The findings reveal a clear opportunity to further investigate the educational potential of trombone choirs and their crucial contribution to the comprehensive training of trombone students.
