Abstract

This study aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 8, which aims to promote decent work and economic growth. Its main objective was to apply ergonomic assessment methods to reduce ergonomic risks among field operators at a telecommunications company by 2025. The research was applied in nature, employing a pre-experimental pre- and post-test design. The REBA and NIOSH methods were used to evaluate postural load/awkward postures and manual handling of loads. The sample consisted of nine operators. The results showed a significant decrease in ergonomic risk levels: the REBA method demonstrated a 50.5% reduction, from an average of 11.44 (very high level) to 5.66 (medium level), while the NIOSH method showed a 58.5% improvement, reducing its average from 4.00 (intolerable level) to 1.66 (moderate level). The Wilcoxon test showed statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) in both dimensions, confirming the effectiveness of the ergonomic interventions. In conclusion, the application of ergonomic assessment methods reduced awkward postures and physical strain on operators, improving occupational safety and operational efficiency, as well as contributing to the company's economic sustainability and regulatory compliance.
