This article aims to investigate how academic literature has addressed the influence of social media on the formation of children's and young adult reading habits based on Afro-Brazilian literature. Using a qualitative approach (Minayo, 1994), the article argues that Afro-Brazilian literature, disseminated through social media, can be an important instrument in the fight against racism, as well as being capable of promoting the implementation of literary practices in the classroom. The article shows that social media has gained prominence in academic research and constitutes spaces for the expression and affirmation of Black identities, in addition to functioning as alternative spaces for the dissemination of books and the formation of readers, especially through the actions of literary influencers. In this context, social media, as an inseparable part of contemporary culture and the social practice of individuals, is present in all spheres of society, including education, which has sought alternatives to integrate it into its environments and practices. However, although Afro-Brazilian literature and the practices of book promotion on social media are relevant topics in today's society, especially in light of research indicating a decline in the number of readers and the structural racism that also manifests itself in the digital environment, we identified few academic studies that specifically address this relationship.
