This paper aims to bring reflections on the development of linguistic atlases in the Amazonian scenario, specifically in the State of Amazonas, with emphasis on the methodological challenges of the field research carried out during the elaboration of the Atlas Linguístico da Microrregião de Coari and the Atlas Linguístico-Etnográfico da Microrregião de Parintins, in Amazonas, based on the theoretical-methodological assumptions of Pluridimensional Dialectology (Thun, 1998) and Geolinguistics (Cardoso, 2010). The territorial dimension of the research contexts, the distance between the locations in each microregion, and the difficulty of accessing some locations due to the transportation used in the Amazon region become major methodological obstacles to collecting research data. From another perspective, the methodological complexity of creating a linguistic atlas in the region appears to be a minor challenge given the richness and linguistic diversity of Amazonian Portuguese, contributing significantly to the description and appreciation of the regional dialect and its particularities.
