Abstract

There are not rules for teaching literature, since one has to deal with a special language which must be known by experience. Although, as a school discipline, it demands disciplinary organization, with aims and methods clearly defined, as esthetic object it goes beyond the mere syllabus and provides findings which go beyond pedagogical limits. Therefore, its teaching depends, fundamentally, on the teachers’ action in classroom, a privileged environment for literary education. It is in the class that one may show how literature works, by means of the reading and the analysis of literary works. To develop such a perspective, one will resort to authors who bring up reflections on the content specificity of a literature lesson, which more than providing answers, arouses desires.
