The pedagogy of extensionist action represents a critical, participatory, and transformative educational approach aimed at strengthening the interaction between university and society. It is grounded in critical pedagogies, Freirean praxis, Southern epistemologies, and pedagogical territoriality, fostering knowledge co-production among teachers, students, and communities. This approach goes beyond mere knowledge transfer, articulating teaching, research, and extension in educational processes that value dialogue, critical reflection, and concrete action. Key methodologies include action research, culture circles, popular education, interdisciplinary projects, and community workshops, all aimed at social transformation and community empowerment. Despite progress, challenges such as knowledge hierarchy, resource scarcity, expectation management, and institutional recognition remain. The consolidation of extensionist pedagogy relies on strengthening inter-institutional networks, community partnerships, digital technologies, and sustainable institutional policies, reaffirming the university’s commitment to critical, inclusive, and socially engaged education.
