Abstract

This study aimed to map the state of research in engineering education from the perspective of metacognition. The results demonstrated that the number of articles on the use of metacognition in engineering increased. This growth was gradual and can be divided into two phases, between 2000 and 2011 publications were in smaller volume, from 2012 onwards publications increased significantly, with 2019 being the most productive year. The main countries in terms of developing research in the area of teaching in engineering are the United States, Spain, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia and Malaysia. Within this field, research topics include the use of active methodologies, sustainable development, good pedagogical and sustainability practices, in addition to the construction of skills and abilities. The use of metacognition in engineering education is still recent and requires the development of new studies due to its potential.

Bolsista produtividade CNPq, orientadora de Mestrado e Doutorado nos programas de pós-graduação em Educação e em Ensino de Ciências e Matemática na Universidade de Passo Fundo. Graduada em Matemática com habilitação em Física, Especialista em Educação Matemática, Especialista em Ensino de Física, Mestre em Educação (UPF), Doutora em Educação Científica e Tecnológica (UFSC) com estudos na Universidad de Alcalá de Henares - España e Estágio pós-doutoral na Unversidad de Burgos - España (2017-2018). Professora Titular III da Universidade de Passo Fundo, vinculada à Área/Departamento de Física. Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa Educação Cientifica e Tecnológica - GruPECT, investigando os processos de ensino/aprendizagem e a formação de professores, a partir de temáticas como a Metacognição, Aprendizagem Significativa, Estratégias de Aprendizagem, Alfabetização Científica, Ensino por Investigação e por Indagação.
