One of the issues that remains pressing on national and transnational agendas regarding the education system in Angola, and which dominates debates on teaching quality, is primary school teacher training. This research aimed to discuss the challenges related to language training, and specifically, to knowledge of specialized scientific language in science, as part of initial primary school teacher training. This study followed a qualitative methodology, predominantly descriptive in nature, supported by a literature review and document analysis. The research highlighted the incipience of research on specialized scientific language in the field of science and evidence of a gap between the real demands of science teaching and the language training of primary school teachers.
