In order to investigate the contributions of the Quotas Law (Law nº 12,711, of August 29, 2012) and the National Student Assistance Program (Decree nº 7,234, of July 19, 2010) to the democratization of Higher Education in Brazil, this study aims to analyze and describe the process of admission and retention of students in undergraduate course at the Federal Institute of Paraná, Campus Palmas, located in the city of Palmas-PR, from 2016 to 2023. The methodological approach was based on bibliographic and documentary research, employing a mixed approach with the collection of quantitative data systematically cross-referenced and analyzed from a qualitative perspective. The results suggest that public policies for affirmative action - Quotas Law and Student Assistance Programs - in the context of the undergraduate course at IFPR Campus Palmas, contribute significantly to promoting student access and permanence.
