Abstract

This research investigated the contribution of extracurricular activities as a way to promote the integral education of students, from the perspective of four teachers working in Basic Education in public schools in the city of Uberaba/MG. Extracurricular activities can be understood as actions that consider the relationship with society in the student's education, being experiences that allow the student to connect to their potential for comprehensive academic and sociocultural education. The research was divided into two blocks, the offer of a continuing education course for teachers and the monitoring of their practices in extracurricular activities, with their students, after the training course. In this article, we bring to light discussions related to the second block, which is the research corpus. In a qualitative research approach, we adopted semi-structured interviews with the participating teachers and non-participant observations of the visits they carried out in the construction of data. Data analysis was based on Content Analysis, from the perspective of Laurence Bardin. The results highlighted the relevance of extracurricular activities in the construction of more meaningful and contextualized learning, contributing to the cognitive, social and cultural development of students.
